  • POST#2020-16  CMM Operator Programmer

    POSITION TITLE:  CMM Operator Programmer

    DEPARTMENT:  Quality

    REPORTS TO:  Quality Supervisor, Quality Manager

    SHIFT:  Afternoons (3:00pm-11:00pm)

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the programming and operation of CMM equipment ensuring compliance to part specification

    • Conduct dimensional inspections on completed parts using CMM equipment, machines, and other hand measuring instruments.

    • Participates in the scheduling and documentation process of PPAP and Fist Article, including completing gauge R&R, SPC and MSA studies

    • Creation of gauge and inspection work instructions and participates in operator training

    • Maintains fixture and gauge calibration as required

    • Prepares technical reports

    • Maintain, control and update quality management system as it pertains to the CMM operation

    • Update and revise CMM programming in response to engineering changes.

    • Ensure inspections and use of CMM is conducted in an acceptable manner and to established organizational procedures.

    • Provide analysis and draft daily reports of inspection findings, communicating conformance issues and discrepancies as required and assisting in providing dimensional resolution to such issues

    • Provide assistance to Engineering and various other departments as requested.

    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada

    • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information

    • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Mechanical / Manufacturing Technician / Technologist Diploma or equivalent.

    • 2 to 3 years CMM operator experience is required, experience with Mititoyo MCosmos is an asset

    • Assembly inspection experience in manufacturing environment

    • Understanding of calibration tracking supporting Quality Control gauges

    • Training and work experience in various quality systems, blueprint reading GD&T, metrology

    • Able to interface directly with cross-functional teams and communicate technical data in non-technical terms

    • Ability to create and review technical documentation and reports

    • Mechanical aptitude considered an asset

    • User experience with firearms is an asset

    • Excellent verbal and written verbal and written communication skills

    • Internal – Employees at all levels, and in all departments, across the organization

    • External – External Contractors related to calibration scheduling and record keeping

     

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Shop floor environment (manufacturing and assembly) PPE is required

    • Sitting / Standing positions

    • May be required to lift to 40lbs (safe lift program)

     

    INTERNAL TRAINING NEEDS:

    • WHMIS

    • Quality Management System ISO 9001:2015

    • Controlled Goods Registration Program

    • Company Policy and regulations

    • ERP System

    • 365 Office Suite knowledge and application, including TEAMS

  • POST#2020-03  CNC Operator I/Machinist II

    POSITION TITLE: CNC Operator I/Machinist II

    PAY GRADE: Starting at $20/hour depending on experience (+shift premium)

    DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing (100)

    REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor

    SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Midnights: Monday-Thursday 9pm-7am, with a possibility of Afternoons Monday-Friday 3pm-11pm

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Operates CNC mills to close tolerances

    • Measures and checks parts for surface roughness and geometric parameter conformance

    • Performs set up using pre-established programs

    • Selects and changes tools

    • Edits programs as instructed

    • Enters and checks offsets

    • Basic machine maintenance

    • Cross train on CNC lathes and conventional machines as required

    • Other duties as assigned

    • Tool Room (manual Mill/Lathe) experience is an asset

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada

    • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information

    • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ontario Secondary School Diploma

    • Machinist certification an asset; but not required

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a CNC Operator in a metal fabrication environment, manufacturing parts with tight tolerances

    • Experience working in an ISO certified environment

     

    CONTACTS AND RELATIONSHIPS:

    • Internal – All department and personnel, specifically Supervisor, Lead Hands, Machine Operators, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Control etc.

    • External – Auditors, suppliers

     

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Manufacturing/machine shop environment – PPE required (glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection), standing for long periods of time, and able to lift up to 50lbs

    • Able to complete repetitive tasks (loading/unloading machines, moving materials and completed parts etc.)

    • Job Specific Training Criterial (Ref. HR F-013)
